(July  29, 2014) Mid-Summer Bike Distribution

Thanks to our dedicated repair team, we have 16 bikes going out to 16 foster children in time for them to enjoy the summer weather. Hopefully this trend continues and we can get more bikes out to more kids. As always, please consider donating or contacting us if you know foster children who could use a bike!

(June 18, 2014) Summer Update

Summer is starting and Foster Bikes is out donating bikes for kids. We are continuing to donate bikes to local foster agencies and are always looking for new opportunities. Kiro 7 news has reached out us by writing an article about us in My Northwest. We are currently working on applying for a 501(c)3 status so we can get official non-profit status. As always, we encourge you to donate and spread the word about Foster Bikes. Have great summer!

(December 8, 2013) Spirit 105.3 Recognition

Co-founder Carolyn van der Meulen has been recognized as the Spirit 105.3 Unsung Hero for her work with Foster Bikes. We would like to thank everyone for the support we have gotten from the community as without it we would not be as successful as we are. Thank you!

(December 1, 2013) Holiday Update

Since August when we received 36 bike requests over 48 hours, we have delivered over 40 bikes to foster children in Snohomish, King, Skagit, and Pierce counties. We are currently working with 8 different foster agencies, including state, private, and faith-based agencies. We have received over 60 donated bikes and our group of volunteers is working to get the newly donated bikes ready to be delivered. As we receive bike requests for boys and girls from ages 3 to 18, we are always looking for more bike donations so that we have a perfect bike to give to an incoming request. If you don’t have a bike to donate, please consider donating money as we still have supplies we need to buy to continue repairing bikes. Thank you for all of you support!

(Aug 1, 2013) Thirty Six Bike Requests!

Foster Bikes recently received 36 bike requests over a 48 hour period on July 23 from foster parents and social workers. This means that word is starting to get out more and people are hearing about the work we do! So far we have delived 9 of the bikes and have 6 more in our garage waiting to be delived. As everybody that works for Foster Bikes is a volunteer and everyone has a separate full time job, we are very busy juggling our work, social life, and Foster Bikes. We have been spending many hours in the garage repairing and cleaning bikes and hopefully we can have all the bikes done by the end of the month... At that rate, we will be finishing a bike almost every single day. As we do like to pair every child with a bike that matches their size and needs, please continue to donate your bikes as our current supply is quickly disappearing to fill the current demand.
